Kandol, 28, incurred a four-match ban after raising his hands to City midfielder Darel Russell less than a minute after coming on as a late sub in an effort to rescue something from the match, after Chris Martin had put City ahead in the 89th minute.

Grayson was furious with the Congolese player for ruling himself out at such a vital stage of the season, saying: "He has been fined by the club as well as receiving a four-match ban from the FA.

"I am hugely disappointed. Tres has let down himself and the club."
