The Canaries have banked an extra 100,000 thanks to the success of former goalkeeper Joe Lewis, according to reports.

Lewis has just celebrated a second successive promotion with Peterborough United after joining them for 400,000 in January last year, without playing a first team game for City.

Posh's elevation to the Championship after finishing as League One runners-up has triggered the latest payout - and it is understood the total transfer fee would reach 700,000 if they ever reach the Premier League. Norfolk-born Lewis is believed to be a 2.5m target for Premier League Portsmouth, who want a long-term successor to 38-year-old David James.

However, Posh director of football Barry Fry said: “There is plenty of interest in our fringe players, but I haven't received a single inquiry for any of our stars.

“I've seen the stories about (George) Boyd and Lewis, but they would be mad to even want to move on. There is no point in Joe going on to become an understudy somewhere else. It would just stop his progress.”
