Lynn slipped to a late defeat in a feisty pre-season work out last night at The Walks.

Scottish First Division outfit Clyde were pushed all the way before heading back north of the border with a trio of victories from their mini Norfolk tour.

David McKay slotted an 87th minute match winner after Rob Murray had foiled the midfielder from the penalty spot seconds earlier.

Linnets' midfielder Ben Sedgemore also missed from the spot in the first half but Greg Crane's stunning angled half- volley cancelled out Stuart Kettlewell's opener.

Sedgemore returned for his first pre-season action alongside ex-Premiership trialist Kevin Horlock in central midfield.

Lynn boss Keith Webb also included fellow trialist Kieran Deane at full-back with latest recruit Mark Peters and Michael Frew settling for a watching Main Stand brief.

Linnets' stopper Scott Howie lined up against his first professional club - the experienced keeper Clyde's record transfer following his £175,000 switch to Norwich in 1993.

Webb again paired Jack Defty and Julian Joachim in attack with Cambridge United two-goal hero Danny Bloomfield in reserve.

John Turner robbed Michael Ohnessorge in the early sparring but David Hutton dropped on his weak cross shot.

Pat Clarke's goal bound strike clipped Simon Weaver with Howie diving full length before Defty miscued Ben Chapman's probing cross. Joe Francis burst clear after a sharp one two with Defty but Ohnessorge cleared the danger.

Francis had the Clyde rearguard back pedalling again on 20 minutes only for Chris Higgins to hack away with Joachim ready to pounce at the back post.

Kettlewell's looping header deceived Howie to break the deadlock but Lynn were handed an instant chance to reply when Francis was clipped by Rarui MacLennon.

Sedgemore's well-struck penalty cannoned back off Hutton's left hand post before a relieved MacLennon hacked away.

Clarke latched on to Gary McSwegan's cute inside pass but scuffed straight at Howie.

Joachim's sliding half-volley slithered through to Hutton in the closing stages from Deane's raking crossfield pass.

Both sides re-emerged after the break unchanged in stark contrast to Lynn's opening home friendly against Cambridge United.

Crane's stinging half-volley crashed past a helpless Hutton on 49 minutes to draw the hosts' level. Bloomfield entered the fray for Joachim on the restart. Former Rangers man McSwegan earned a lecture from referee Ross after upending the abrasive Chapman in front of the dug outs.

Chapman's spat with Kettlewell minutes later ended with a rare pre-season booking for both parties - Lynn's no- nonsense full-back taking exception to a clear tug back.

Howie bravely dived at Kettlewell's feet with the Clyde midfielder sniffing a second before Webb withdrew Chapman for the versatile Charlie Defty just past the hour mark. Bloomfield struck Hutton's left hand post on 73 minutes after a fantastic flowing move down the left - Charlie Defty and Steve Melton carving open Clyde's backline.

Kettlewell fired wide from the edge of the area with the Scottish professional outfit finishing strongly.

Referee Ross was forced to intervene in another minor flash point after Ohnessorge reacted angrily to Bloomfield's committed challenge.

Murray foiled McKay from point blank range on 84 minutes before the Clyde midfielder tumbled under Weaver's rash attempted pullback.

Murray guessed right to parry McKay's low driven spot kick. Stephen Connolly's rasping drive flew wide as Lynn sunk ever deeper in the closing stages.

McKay made amends on 88 minutes with a sharp burst into the box before calmly slotting underneath the advancing Murray.

The razor sharp McKay slammed Murray's crossbar in stoppage time with Lynn visibly tiring.
