As King's Lynn FC head for a lucrative at home tie with Oldham Athletic in the second round of the FA cup, the money is already pouring in at the club shop.

Newly woven, printed and embroidered commemorative pieces have been flying off the shelves at such a rate that the club shop at The Walks reported record takings on Saturday.

Fans clutching their hard won tickets flooded the store to make sure they went home with their own piece of Linnets history.

But it is not only the home fans who will be parting with their cash in the town.

The bright sparks at the supporters club have come up with an idea to cash on Latics fans travelling to the town for the tie - and have created a reversable scarf with both featuring both teams colours and slogans, to commemorate the day.

"We approached Oldham for their permission and they gave it," said supporters club organiser Gordon Chilvers, "It has proved popular with the fans, as have all the new lines.

Other commemorative pieces include, hats, mugs, T-shirts and polo tops printed with the details of the day.

One design bears the motto 'King's Lynn - so good they called it twice' in reference to Trevor Brooking's live television draw gaffe which left many confused about who King's Lynn would actually be playing.

Mr Chilvers said: "We've actually sent one of those to Trevor Brooking - it also has a picture of a mug with the Linnets shield on it and says 'what a mug' on the front but it's all a bit of fun."

For those who haven't made it to the ground this week, and who are planning to watch the battle on Sky, the lines are also being stocked by town centre store Ikon in Norfolk Street.
