King's Lynn's young flyer Joe Francis is a major injury doubt for Saturday's Southern League Shield match-up against Hillingdon Borough at The Walks.

Linnets' chief Keith Webb confirmed Francis will have x-rays on damaged ribs after landing awkwardly in the closing stages of Lynn's battling 2-2 draw against a Norwich XI.

Francis, pictured, had started on the bench after suffering with an upset stomach but the club's reigning player-of-the-year was forced to limp away from the second half action as 10-man Lynn snatched a stoppage time equaliser.

"We'll send him off for an x-ray and monitor the situation over the next couple of days," said Webb. "He just got a heavy knock above the hip bone, underneath the rib area. He's gone in for a challenge on the goal keeper which is something we want him to do a bit more - trying to get on the end of things."

Webb admitted Norwich were full value for their interval lead after clinical strikes from Canaries' youngsters Luke Daley and Kris Renton.

"There was plenty of good movement from them and they opened us up big time," he said. "The second half gave us a chance to re-organise a little and get our shape back a bit. Once we did that I thought we got the measure of them.

"For me it wasn't a case we showed them too much respect. They just played ever so well. Credit where credit is due. They presented us with problems we hadn't come across before which was good. We've had an opportunity to put it right and now we can look forward to Hillingdon."

Julian Joachim's first goal for the club and John Turner's cool stoppage-time penalty after the tall midfielder had been clipped by Norwich trialist keeper Stuart Nelson completed a stirring second half fightback.

"Maybe that is JT on the pens now," said Webb. "Although we won't see him for a week or two as he is going off to get married. I was delighted how we finished the game, especially when we only had 10 men on the field. Perhaps we were a little fortunate with the penalty decision but it was nice to finally score one.

"It was great to see Julian get off the mark and hopefully that will kick-start him now. I also thought Russ Kelly did ever so well. He looked a tidy young midfielder. I said in the previous games that right back is not really his position. He's definitely one for the future."

Lynn have released details of admission prices for Saturday's fixture against Hillingdon (3pm).

The annual match-up between the Southern Premier champions and the Southern League Cup winners is being viewed as a competitive fixture rather than a friendly. Extra-time and penalties will follow if the scores are level after 90 minutes.

Southern League chairman Ken Turner will conduct an on pitch presentation at the conclusion.

Pprices: Adults £9, concessions £5 and children £2. An additional £1 charge applies for a Main Stand seat. Season tickets are not valid.
