Lynn boss Keith Webb admitted his side needed to sharpen up after misfiring against a resolute Yarmouth side.

The Blue Square North visitors lacked a cutting edge in their latest pre-season friendly - which included another spot kick miss.

Elliot Pride dropped on Danny Bloomfield's well struck penalty early in the second half - Lynn's fourth consecutive failure stretching back to the final two league matches of last season.

“I can't say it's a worry,” said Webb. “We've missed two in two games but when you put people 12 yards out with the keeper to beat you expect them to score. Sometimes it happens. Sometimes it doesn't. I'm not going to lose too much sleep over that. Goals change games but I though our final ball let us down too many times. It was a good work-out and I was pleased with the effort and quality but we didn't work the keeper enough for the amount of times we got in their box.”

Webb blooded all four summer signings for the first time since Lynn's gentle practice match at (S & L) Corby. Mark Peters played the final third after shaking off a minor groin injury. Lynn's boss also ran the rule over ex-Norwich City youngster Rob Kelly.

“He's a young lad who I watched a couple of times last season,” said Webb. “It wasn't really his natural position. If he wants to come along and develop with us then that is fine. He is another good young player to add to the ones we have at the club but we have a lot of midfielders. I think it's highly unlikely he would challenge the senior lads we have here. ”

Michael Frew returned to partner Danny Bloomfield up front after sitting out the midweek Clyde defeat with a thigh injury.

One time Lynn trialist Stewart Roach lobbed over Rob Murray's crossbar before Pride acrobatically clawed away Frew's ambitious long range half volley - John Turner clipping Pride's post in the next attack.

Alan Darby's powerful header flew inches over Murray's crossbar after arriving unmarked in the box as heavy rain blew across the Wellesley.

Bartley foiled Bloomfield with a last ditch sliding tackle when Darby failed to control Turner's throughball.

Joe Francis' drove at the heart of the home defence before enticing a rash challenge from Yarmouth sub Tom Godbold.

Pride guessed right to drop on Bloomfield's low struck penalty before clutching Francis' 25-yard free kick. Jack Defty and Julian Joachim went close to breaking the deadlock on their introduction - Joachim racing clear on to Ben Chapman's weighted pass before whipping the ball across the face of the six yard box inches from the lunging Defty.

Weaver switched to full back to accommodate Mark Peters who slotted in alongside Crane at centre half in a potential sign of things to come ahead of the league campaign.

Peters' almost had an immediate impact in the opposite penalty box - arriving late to head David Bridgwater's deep corner just over.
