Norwich assassin Leroy Lita would swap hero worship for a priceless Championship win over arch rivals Ipswich tomorrow at Carrow Road.

The on loan Reading striker became an instant fans' favourite with a match winning hat-trick against Wolves during his initial City loan spell. Lita's second stint officially ends after Town's visit although the 23-year-old is confident he will remain at Carrow Road until the January transfer window.

The Congolese forward has also been linked with a permanent New Year deal but - for now - his priority is helping sink the boys in blue.

“I just want to put in a performance for the team,” he said. “It's not about being a hero. It is always good to score and I believe I can score every game. It's going to be good. The players have been talking about it and saying it's a great game to play in so I'm looking forward to it.

“The league table doesn't count for anything and form goes out of the window. We're not consistent enough and that is it. As soon as we put it together we're as good as anyone but we let it slip. Obviously they are rivals so it's about who takes there chances on the day and makes the most of the occasion. We've lost a lot of games but we're not far off it. We've let too many chances slip so we need to get back in amongst it.”

Lita admits it would be a major wrench to return to a bit part role at the Madejski after not featuring in Steve Coppell's Championship plans since the opening month.

“I'm playing every week and I need to be playing every week,” said the former England U21 striker. “I've made it clear that I won't go back to Reading and sit on the bench or not be involved or anything like that. I'm down here playing and enjoying it. There's no reason why Sunday should be my last game unless Reading call me back - that's the only way I would go back but I've not spoken to anyone. I'm just looking forward to Sunday and we will take it from there.”

Lita was deployed in a lone frontman role at Hillsbrough last weekend. The predator is again prepared to give his all for the cause.

“It is hard work playing up front on your own, but I don't mind working hard,” he said. “It's a good role to play. I enjoy it, I'm playing and happy so it's not a problem for me.

“In that system you have to look to pass it more than launch it but as I say Sibby (Antoine Sibierski) is a big player for us, a good player, and with him in the team we're strong as well.”

Lita unveiled a personal message of support on his vest for his troubled African homeland after dragging City level against the Owls - but the six-goal striker is keeping any derby plans under wraps.

“I don't know if I have a shirt planned. We'll have to wait and see,” he said. “It was something that I planned to do. Obviously back home it's a bit tough for people but I just wanted to show my support and hopefully it will keep people's spirits up.”
