Seaside rivals Yarmouth and Lowestoft both continued their preparations for life at a higher level last night.

They provided some fine, entertaining friendly action at The Wellesley, with the Trawlerboys eventually sealing a narrow win.

Yarmouth missed a chance to go ahead in only the 10th minute when Jake Reed's penalty was well saved by Andy Reynolds by the foot of a post post.

Both teams played some neat passing football but it was Ryman Premier newcomers Lowestoft who took the lead after 42 minutes when Christie Finch ran down the left and shot inside the far post. The Bloaters, newly promoted to the Ridgeons Premier, equalised on 63 minutes when substitute Andy Hayton ran through the middle to comfortably beat Reynolds. But Lowestoft restored their lead two minutes later with a great finish from Jamie Forshaw.

On Saturday Yarmouth entertain an Ipswich Town XI while Lowestoft are at home to Braintree (both ko 3pm).
