Lightning-quick striker Luke Daley was rewarded with a professional contract in April 2008 after ending the 2007-08 season as top scorer for the youth team. During his time as an Academy scholar, Luke formed a useful partnership with Kris Renton and Daley's terrific pace certainly appears to work well alongside a powerful target man.
A regular goalscorer at youth and reserve team level, he really staked his claim for a first team chance when he fired at hat-trick for the reserves during a 4-2 victory over Arsenal reserves in November 2008. After being named an unused substitute under Glenn Roeder, his debut finally arrived when Bryan Gunn handed him his chance against Burnley and Coventry earlier this year.
