Canaries striker Arturo Lupoli has refused to write off the possibility of turning his loan move into a permanent deal.

The Italian is at Carrow Road on a year's loan from Serie A side Fiorentina, where he endured a miserable year after returning from England.

Two goals in three starts have helped him settle in to his new surroundings, and the 22-year-old hinted that a permanent deal may happen should that strike rate continue.

“We'll just have to see how the season goes and if we get in a good position and I do well for the team, you never know,” he said.

Lupoli will be joined this week by another loan signing, Wigan's Antoine Sibierski, but says he welcomes the competition.

While the Italian is still short of 100pc match fitness, according to manager Glenn Roeder, his goals have made him even more determined to keep his place.

Sibierski's arrival now puts that under threat - but Lupoli says he is ready to fight.

“Sibierski is a good player coming in from the Premiership, so he will be very helpful for the Norwich team and he's the type of player that we're looking for,” he said.

“The manager now knows that he has more options and that is good for the team.

“Of course, there is always competition. I'm confident, but I know I will have to work hard for my place in the squad. I will do my best to get into the starting line-up for the Plymouth game.”

Lupoli's goals came in the 2-2 draw at Cardiff, when City fought back from two goals down, and admitted the boost they had given him and his team-mates was still evident.

“Of course, it's still there and I think I had a good personal performance against Birmingham as well,” he said.

“You just have to keep going and more goals will come and now with new players I'm sure we'll do well.”

City have a two-week gap between games because of the international break, but with new players coming in the extra time spent on the training fields at Colney will be invaluable as old and new attempt to gel.

“It's going really well for me here, training has been good and this week it's very important to me and the team to keep up match fitness, ready for the next game,” said Lupoli.

“We have new players as well so this week is very important for us and we're looking forward to the next game.”
