King's Lynn boss Keith Webb insists he is not afraid to make changes ahead of tonight's Blue Square North trip to Stafford. (7.45pm)

Webb was critical of Lynn's failure to break down a resolute ten-man Stalybridge Celtic at the weekend as the Linnets earned a sixth consecutive league draw.

Rushden & Diamonds' versatile midfielder Scott Mitchell agreed a loan switch yesterday until January with Webb keen to spark an instant response against ex-Wolves legend Steve Bull's Rangers.

“I've laid it on the line in no uncertain terms,” said Webb.

“No one can come to me now and say they deserve to be in the team. I've told them they have to look at themselves and be honest.

“Scott is someone who will give me options. He can play right back, he can play in midfield. I've spoken to a lot of people about him and they say he is a top notch player.

“He has played at Livingston, he has played for Peterborough and we think he'll be a good addition. I said after Saturday we need to improve as a team and he is someone who can come into the club and perhaps do that in midfield areas.”

Mitchell has yet to make a senior appearance at Rushden after joining the ambitious Blue Square Premier outfit in the summer.

The 23-year-old former Ipswich trainee made two Championship appearances at Portman Road.

Mitchell spent 17 months at Livingston before a brief London Road stint last season.

Webb has no fresh injury worries for Lynn's Midlands mission. Skipper Greg Crane plays his final match before a week long suspension as Lynn bid to end their draw hoodoo.

“We started well early doors at Stafford but they scored a well worked goal,” said Webb. “After the sending-off I got the players in at half time and told them we had plenty of time to get back in the game.

“We just had to pass the ball and go about it in the correct way.

“Then we went out and didn't do any of the things I asked for.

“The ball just got lumped forward too often and we looked like the side with ten men.”

High profile frontman Julian Joachim was left out at Stalybridge for the second consecutive game as Webb looked to stiffen his midfield.

“I had to do what was best for the team in my opinion,” he said.

“Danny Bloomfield is the man you turn to for a goal.

“I also felt we needed a bit of height up front so I threw on John Turner and some pace in the centre of the park so we got Smudger on.

“If you'd said to me beforehand would you take a point I would have, but under the circumstances maybe it was two dropped.”

Stafford boss Bull also expects a response from his side after leaders Southport cantered to a 3-0 win at Marston Road on Saturday.
