Norwich City Ladies hit a magnificent seven goals against Old Actonians at the weekend, with just two in reply from the hosts.

The Norfolk side will entertain Old Actonians in a SE Combination re-match on February 20, hoping for more of the same.

This Sunday, the fifth-placed Canaries are hosting bottom team Braintree.

Norwich City Girls U12 played Hemsby and it ended in a 0-0 draw.

Norwich entertained reigning champions and undefeated Hemsby at Thorpe Rec.

Norwich managed to stamp their authority in the early stages of the game, with shots from Rachel, Shana and Rhiannon.

Emily then had a shot from long range which the Hemsby keeper spilt but then recovered to turn away for a Norwich corner.

Hemsby then took control and put Norwich’s goal under pressure with four corners in a row but Norwich defended well.

Hemsby then fired in a cross which ran across the face of goal but no-one was there to get on the end of it.

Norwich broke and a Shana cross was nearly turned into their own net by a Hemsby defender. Norwich continued to attack and Emily finished the first half with a long-range effort.

The second half saw Norwich and Hemsby cancel each other out. Norwich had a string of corners and efforts from both Chloe and Cerys went wide.

Both sides showed signs of their passing game with good passages of play. Emily put Norwich’s last shot wide but was then on hand to clear Hemsby’s last attack of the game.

A great all-round team performance preventing Hemsby scoring for the first time and so nearly getting the win they deserved.

Full time: 0-0.

Norwich started brightly and took an early lead when a cross was turned into her own net by a Brandon defender.

In the second half Norwich dominated, Abi C cleared the ball upfield and over the Brandon defence for Abi B to control with her first touch, then score with her second.

Abi B won the ball close to the penalty area but her strong shot was saved well by the Brandon keeper.

Nicole’s shot from outside the box was again saved. Then Robyn’s shot was blocked and cleared. Anya received the ball on the halfway line and made a good run and shot which was saved by the Brandon player of the match.

Similar to Norwich’s second goal, Nicole cleared the ball from half way for Abi B to run onto and score to make it 3-0.

Norwich continued to attack but could not find a way pass the Brandon keeper.
