Norwich City striker Carlton Morris made an immediate impact after his League One loan switch to MK Dons, scoring an equaliser at Coventry during his debut for Russell Martin’s team.

Morris was introduced at half-time with the Dons trailing 1-0 at high-flying Coventry and found an equaliser in the 75th minute, starting an attack and then taking advantage of a fortuitous deflection to thump home from close range.

The goal, a fifth of the season for the 24-year-old, followed swiftly on from ending a loan at Rotherham early to join his former Canaries team-mate at Stadium MK.

City legend Martin saw his team climb out of the relegation zone and told his club's website: "For someone to show an intent to leave a club in the top five to come to a team fighting to stay in the league is a massive signal of intent and what he's really about as a player, a character and a personality.

"I think you see what he brings on the pitch during that second half, the players have seen that, that's he's trying to find a home and somewhere he can really enjoy his football and he'll really fit in well here.

"Obviously I know him really well personally, he's someone I got on brilliantly with at Norwich, we've had a long relationship and I'm really, really pleased we've got him because, as I said when he signed, at this level I don't think there's many better."

Elsewhere in the third tier, defender Sean Raggett played all of a 2-1 home win over AFC Wimbledon as Portsmouth moved to within a point of the top six.

While in League Two, Diallang Jaiyesimi played the full match as Swindon remained top of the table thanks to a 3-1 home win over Crewe.

It was FA Trophy action for midfielder Alfie Payne with King's Lynn Town, playing all of a 2-0 defeat away to National League side Ebbsfleet United in the second round, seeing a shot cleared off the line for Ian Culverhouse's team - who can now focus on their National League North title battle.

There was also a notable friendly success for Philip Heise as German clubs continued their winter break, helping second-tier side Nuernberg beat Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich 5-2.

The score was 1-1 at half-time, when both teams changed their line-ups totally, with the left-back facing big names including Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Phillippe Coutinho during the first half on Saturday.
