The Canaries remained unbeaten under new head coach Daniel Farke – following their eight-game pre-season programme, and kicking off their EFL Championship campaign with a decent 1-1 draw at highly fancied Fulham.

Then Tuesday night’s 3-2 Carabao Cup first-round home win over Swindon continued the run.

Nelson Oliveira was set to return to the City squad following his controversial goal celebration at Craven Cottage, while former Canaries Lewis Grabban and James Vaughan were expected to head-up the front line of a Sunderland side now managed by former Preston boss Simon Grayson.

Following their Sunday lunchtime kick-off (1.30pm) City are back at Carrow Road on Wednesday, when they welcome QPR to Carrow Road in another Championship fixture.
