Tamworth midfielder John McGrath is hoping to make it second time lucky in the FA Cup giant-killing stakes when he faces Norwich City this weekend.

The creative 26-year-old Irishman was part of the Dagenham & Redbridge side which lost 1-0 at Carrow Road in the fourth round in 2003.

Back then, Zema Abbey netted a 90th-minute winner for the Canaries to break McGrath's heart.

“We had chances to win that game when I was at Dagenham,” said McGrath, who scored the second goal in Tamworth's 2-1 victory at Rushden & Diamonds in this season's second round.

“It was a bit of a cruel defeat so I'm hoping for a better result this time.

“I don't see why we can't cause an upset especially as we are at home.

“I don't think Norwich will relish coming to The Lamb.”

He added: “Personally I'm looking forward to locking horns with Dion Dublin. I was with him at Aston Villa for three seasons and he's a great guy and really good professional.

“His aerial threat, plus the pace of Huckerby, will be a real threat for us.

“They also have Robert Earnshaw, of course, who has a great goalscoring record.

“But Tom Kemp and Simon Weaver are good central defenders and they can handle the pressure.”
