Leon McKenzie today said he felt mixed emotions following his £1million move to Championship rivals Coventry City.

The 28-year-old finally signed for the Sky Blues in a three-year deal having handed in a transfer request two weeks ago, during which time the Midlands-based club had three offers rejected.

“I'm glad that a deal has been done,” said McKenzie, who underwent his medical at the Ricoh Stadium yesterday afternoon. “It was a very hard decision to put the transfer request in, in the first place, but I think that all parties have to be satisfied with the result.

“It's fair to say that I feel mixed emotions about leaving as I have very much enjoyed my time at Norwich and I've made some good friends.

“I have to thank Norwich for improving me as a player and taking me from a lower league club.”

He added: “I've had a taste of the Premiership in that time and I certainly want to get back there one day.

“I have to say that the Norwich fans have been great to me over the past couple of years.”

Since McKenzie handed in his transfer request, though, the reaction from the fans towards him has been mixed, but the frontman fully appreciates their feelings and added it has been tough all-round.

“I wasn't easy on anyone, but I am glad a deal has been done and hopefully all parties can benefit,” he said, after a deal with Sunderland was never on the table for the simple fact his kids are with his estranged wife in Peterborough.

Ironically, McKenzie's first action in a Sky Blues' shirt could come against his now former club Norwich in a week's time and the hard-working hitman admits it would be a hard occasion to deal with.

“It will be hard for me no doubt about that,” said McKenzie, who passed the medical despite having taken a knock on his ankle during the 5-1 win over Barnsley. “The lads know all what I am about but I will be looking forward to the challenge.

“I have and always will try my hardest whatever team I play for.”

City stars Robert Earnshaw and Carl Robinson found themselves making a surprise trip to Bournemouth on Thursday after the flight carrying them to their Euro 2008 qualifier with the Czech Republic was aborted.

The plane travelling to Prague made the landing after being airborne for just 25 minutes, with the captain reporting a loss of altitude because of windscreen damage.

The squad was delayed for about an hour before a replacement plane was found to continue the journey.

The Welsh are set to face the Czech's in their opening UEFA Euro 2008 Group D qualifier on Saturday.
