Norwich City striker Carlton Morris has joined MK Dons on a season-long loan - his eighth spell away from the club.
The former FA Youth Cup winner will link up with Canaries legend and Dons boss Russell Martin again, after spending the second half of the 2019/20 season at Stadium MK.
Morris began last season on loan with Paul Warne’s Rotherham United before opting to join his former Canaries team-mate Martin in the hope of more game time.
Morris, along with fellow City player Louis Thompson, played a major part in the club’s League One revival under Martin, who was appointed as Dons boss in November.
The League One season was curtailed last month, with Dons finishing 19th on points per game.
Morris was a popular figure amongst supporters and players at the club. Martin reaffirmed his desire to recruit the 24-year-old ahead of the new season. He made ten appearances last season, scoring twice.
The striker has only made one senior appearance for City which arrived in 2015 in the Canaries 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic under Alex Neil.
Loans with Oxford United and York City followed his FA Youth Cup triumph prior to a breakthrough spell at Scottish side Hamilton - where he netted eight goals in 32 games.
His most productive move was a season with Shrewsbury Town. The striker, along with City defender Ben Godfrey, was an integral part of Paul Hurst’s squad that was beaten by Rotherham United in the play-off final.
Morris suffered a knee ligament injury during that fixture which prevented him from kicking on with City and compounded his misery following a Wembley final defeat. Injury in his opening game back late last year thwarted his return to the Canaries under-23s side.
The England under-19 international has one year remaining on his City contract - which expires next summer.
“I’m very happy to be back,” he told MK Dons’ official channels. “As soon as I heard the Club were interested in extending the loan, it was an easy decision to make.
“It was very unfortunate that the season was cut short because since joining January I was having a great time. I got on well with the lads in the dressing and felt a real connection with the fans and the Football Club in general.
“This is a Club really on the up under the gaffer and with the squad that we’ve got. it’s an exciting time to be part of things and we’ll be looking as high as we can next season.”
He added: “For me, last season was, at times, just about getting through the games after coming back from a long-term injury. I’m feeling great and I’m looking forward to kicking on next season.”
