Narrow victory pulls Marlborough clear at top
Marlborough bounced back from last week’s surprise cup defeat to move clear at the top of the Premier Division after a 3-2 (Shaun Brown, Danny Mckail, Jason Armes) home win over Fiveways.
After leading 3-0 at one stage the reigning champions held out against late pressure from the visitors. The Grove had a 4-1 (Aaron James 2, Danny Blake, og) win over Hellesdon Athletic and Acle Rangers took a point in a 1-1 draw at Bayer FC. There was a welcome single goal victory for Aylsham Sunday as they won at Sprowston Rovers.
1A leaders Norman Wanderers march on as they scored five (Danny Wynne 3, Calum Webb, Sam Gauntlet) without reply at home to DCS Rapid. North Walsham followed up last week’s cup victory with a 5-2 win at Aslacton and Hockering grabbed their second victory of the season with a 6-3 win at Eaton FC.
With the top two in 1B inactive Earlham United missed the chance to go top of the table as they were held to a 4-4 draw at Prince of Denmark for whom Chris Holmes hit a superb hat trick and Ben Morgan added a fourth.
In 2A, Riverside Rovers moved two points clear of Mad Moose. As Rovers were winning 3-1 at Deopham, Mad Moose were being held to a 2-2 draw by The Cottage. Tom Swabey and Darren Hills scored for Moose. Stoke had a very good 6-3 victory at New Buckenham and Marc Howard grabbed a hat trick as a resurgent Stores side beat Dancing Farmers 5-2. Damien Keaton and Kyle Furse also scored for the home side, whilst Stefan Harris Wright and Ross Brooks replied for Farmers. Nathan Strugnell scored twice as did Andrew Lawn as Constable Crusaders beat Acle Wanderers 5-2, Marcial Silva scored the other goal from a corner. Bell Inn continued their 100% record this season with a 4-0 home win over Sloughbottom Revolution and remain a point ahead of Poringland Wanderers who were 4-1 (Ryan Cook, Chris Reynolds, Jonny Causton, og) winners at Hillside OB. Briston Wanderers and Salhouse Rovers shared the points and six goals, Neil Woolner (2) and Tom Lackey scoring for Rovers whilst a Matt Howard hat trick and a goal from Jamie Minors helped Unicorns Reserves to a 4-2 win at home to Ribs Rovers. DEF FC moved away from the foot of the table courtesy of a 2-0 win at SDC United.

The clash of the top two in 3A produced a cracking game in which both sides had the upper hand at times, but Bungay finally ran out 4-3 winners against Brooke. Aiden Lowe grabbed a hat trick for the home side and there was also a goal for Kevin Riches on his return to the game after injury. Marcus Holt scored four times as Temples Property moved up to fourth after a 5-3 win at Manor Park and Norman wanderers “A” kept up their recent good form with a 3-1 win at Phoenix Felthorpe. A single goal was enough for Newsman Celtic to take the points against River Garden.
Schoolhouse took over from Hainford Howitzers as leaders of 3B after beating them 4-2. Schoolhouse led 4-0 at one point but goals by Peter Taylor and Dom Miller reduced the deficit for the home side. Jordan Rocastle grabbed three as Angel Gardens beat Hethersett Athletic by the odd goal of five, Brad Nelson and Steve White scored for Hethersett, whilst Daniel Childerhouse (3), and Matthew Nixon (2), were the scorers as William Wanderers ran out 5-3 winners at Chapelfield Rovers. Salhouse Rovers Reserves were presented with the league Sporting Award for September before their game with Windmill Elite, but it was the visitors, playing some nice stuff at times, who ran out 4-1 winners. Ashley Turner scored the first for Elite following good work by Matty Daynes, and then added a second before half time heading home from a corner. Daynes himself got on the score sheet and an own goal finished off the home side. There was a welcome victory for Costessey Sports as they won 3-1 at Taverham United.

Its now seven from seven for 4A leaders Costessey West End. A Farin Deeba hat trick and goals by Craig Callaway and Shane Wright helped them to a 5-1 win at home to Bungay Reserves. Dilham Cross Keys kept in touch by winning 6-4 (Dan Duffield 2, Michael Powley 2, Jamie Duffield, Jamie Clarke) at Brooke Reserves, whilst Steward Halton grabbed his second hat trick of the season as Sporting Longdale Reserves scored seven without reply against Hockering Reserves. Sam Huetson, Liam Kirby, Brad Warr and Nick Clark were also on the score sheet. Horsford Youth remain in fourth spot as they thumped The Stores Res 9-2.
In 4B, third placed Shipdham Rangers won 3-2 at Mettingham and there was another win for Bunwell Sunday, 3-2 at AFC Oak.
