Norwich City boss Daniel Farke faces a defensive conundrum ahead of the visit of champions-elect Liverpool to Carrow Road on Saturday, with Ben Godfrey available again after suspension.

Grant Hanley could perhaps have considered himself slightly unlucky to be dropped back to the bench ahead of last month's home Premier League clash with Bournemouth, after England Under-21 international Godfrey returned from a month out with a knee injury.

However, the 22-year-old picked up a straight red card with 15 minutes remaining of that crucial 1-0 win, for a poorly timed tackle on Cherries striker Callum Wilson.

City captain Hanley returned and the Scotland international has performed well on the whole, during a narrow 2-1 loss at Tottenham and a 0-0 draw at Newcastle, either side of the 28-year-old scoring a powerful header during a 2-1 win at Burnley in the FA Cup fourth round.

Central defence has been a major issue for the Canaries this season, with Hanley and Zimmermann missing around three months apiece due to injuries during the first half of the season, and Timm Klose also suffering a major knee injury in August.

That left Godfrey and Ibrahim Amadou to deputise for much of that first half of the campaign but Zimmermann and Hanley have played the most minutes since returning to action in December - with defensive midfielder Amadou's loan from Sevilla cut short in January.

So with Godfrey available again ahead of the clash with runaway leaders, who would you pick if you were in Farke's shoes? Or would you change shape to use all three at the back against the world and European champions?

Godfrey has demonstrated his passing influence regularly for the Canaries and formed the partnership with Zimmermann which sealed the Championship title during the second half of last season, after Hanley and Klose had been disrupted by injury problems.

However, Hanley, Zimmermann and keeper Tim Krul earned their clean sheet at Newcastle ahead of the current top-flight winter break - just a fourth shut-out of the season.
