Norwich City Under-23s return to Premier League Two action this afternoon when they take on Newcastle United.

The young Canaries haven’t had a league game since a 3-1 loss at Middlesbrough at the end of last month so have slipped to third in Division Two.

They were in action in the Papa John’s Trophy during the international break though, losing 1-0 away to League Two side Cheltenham Town to finish second in their group - which has earned a trip to MK Dons in the first knockout round.

City striker Tyrese Omotoye has been nominated for the Player of the Round after scoring four goals in three games in the Trophy, including a hat-trick during a 5-0 win at Newport, with the 18-year-old boasting an overall tally of seven in 10 games so far.

Newcastle’s U23s lost all three of their Trophy group games, to Shrewsbury, Bolton and Crewe. The match is being played at Whitley Park, the home of the Northumberland FA (1pm).
