Ex-Canary Ian Butterworth looks set to be part of Bryan Gunn's management team in time for tomorrow night's Championship trip to Wolves.

The 45-year-old Hartlepool assistant manager was absent from the League One club's party on duty at Brighton on Saturday.

As reported in Saturday's Evening News, Butterworth was at the Keepmoat Stadium on Friday night to see City draw 1-1 with Doncaster.

He was later said to be in talks with the Canaries over a return to Carrow Road as assistant manager, nearly 15 years since his last appearance as a player. Gunn was on the bench for Hartlepool in last Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Carlisle at Victoria Park, but didn't make the trip to the South Coast at the weekend. Youth team coach Micky Barron took over Butterworth's duties at the Withdean Stadium.
