No joy for Bell Inn as Chilvers prove clinical

Bell Inn failed in their attempt to complete a League and Cup double this season when they were beaten by a very good Chilvers side in the final of the County Intermediate Cup at the Football Development Centre.

A crowd of more than 180 saw the Norwich side almost take the lead within 20 seconds, but Josh Farrow’s strike came back off the post, but with 18 minutes the Lynn side were three ahead. Farrow then reduced the arrears from the penalty spot just before half-time, but the Lynn side went on to score three more in the second half to secure a deserved victory. Well done to Bell Inn though, they have had a good season and will play in next year’s Senior Cup.

A point in their final game will ensure the Marlborough will retain the Premier Division trophy. A 5-1 (Jason Armes 2, Jordan King, Jody Cork, Ben Gowan) win at Bayer FC leaves them three points ahead of AFC Wanderers with both clubs having one game left. Wanderers were 3-2 winners over Norwich Busmen (Aaron Kay 2, Charlie Bartrum) as they warmed up to face Acle Rangers, who were 2-0 winners at Aylsham Sunday, in next week’s League Cup Final at the FDC. (KO 10.30)

A single Danny Wynn strike was enough to give Norman Wanderers victory over 1A leaders Windmill Wanderers. The result means that four points from their final four games will see Normans take the title, leaving Windmill to face a play off final. Sprowston Sunday finished the season in third spot after a surprise 3-1 home defeat to Hockering FC.

Goals by Matt Howard, Mark Hawkins and Nathan Turner gave Unicorns a 3-2 victory at Spixworth Sunday in 1B, whilst Sprowston Wanderers were 2-1 winners at home to Moles Rest.

Riverside Rovers will guarantee their third title in a row since joining the league, if they win one of their remaining two games in 2A. Their 5-3 home win over Constable Crusaders moved them into second spot one point behind Norman Reserves who have completed their fixtures. Deopham finished their season by putting seven without reply past Acle Wanderers.

A Martin Clarke header and a well placed finish from Tom Lackey were enough for Salhouse Rovers to win 2-1 at SDC Utd in the only game played in 2B.
