Buendia gets back into full flow with hard working effort to help City beat Foxes

Last night’s Norwich City player watch was Emi Buendia as the Argentine midfielder returned to City’s starting XI during a vital 1-0 win over Leicester, after three games on the bench.

2 - Max Aarons and Buendia just about complete a one-two, with Ondrej Duda's help, who spreads to a charging Aarons but whipped cross held low by Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

4 - Dreadful attempted cross under little pressure, Jamal Lewis keeps alive, Alex Tettey gets the ball back to Buendia and prod to Teemu Pukki is intercepted.

13 - Poor free-kick attempt from 25 yards, tamely into the wall. Follow-up pass to Tettey intercepted but works to get across and stop Ben Chilwell clearing.

14 - Spins centrally on a Kenny McLean pass and tries to thread Pukki in but Jonny Evans reads it well.

16 - Slides in to turn a Duda pass wide to Aarons, Tettey finds Buendia and spreads left, Duda finds Todd Cantwell, who wins a corner.

17 - Duda's corner from the left isn't great, Buendia controls with his chest under pressure and plays backwards to safety. Soon after tries to arrow a pass to the left but Ricardo Pereira does well to intercept in the air.

19 - Harvey Barnes with good pace, dips his shoulder and cuts infield away from Aarons, Tettey blocks his path and Dennis Praet leathers a shot straight at Tim Krul, who holds.

23 - Lovely switch to Buendia on the right from Ben Godfrey, bundles through but Duda couldn't force a shot.

31 - Having a weird minute, doesn't track back but Pukki does and McLean clears up, Hanley leathers the ball against Buendia by mistake. Crowd respond with their song for the Argentine, to encourage him to get his head in the game.

40 - Duda wins possession and spreads to Cantwell on the left, Buendia tries to dance his way through but is tackled, hurdles Evans' tackle - who turns to accuse him of diving but Buendia holds his hand up to say he wasn't claiming for a penalty.

41 - Tenacious from Pukki, finds Cantwell on the edge of the box, who flicks to Buendia, prods to Pukki but snap shot rolls wide.

45 - Praet gives the ball to Buendia in space, spreads left but Cantwell overplays in the box.

45+1 - Aarons robbed but Buendia battles to win a free-kick as Chilwell tries to tackle him wide. Buendia whips in the free-kick, but Kelechi Iheanacho got up highest to nod away for the visitors.

48 - Tettey does well to disrupt Ricardo's run, Cantwell and Buendia help out on the edge of the box but Buendia plays Tettey into trouble, Chilwell's shot deflected behind.

62 - Praet brings down a charging Aarons after Buendia started and continued the counter brilliantly, with sharp passing. Duda whips in the free-kick from the right, Giodfrey can't win, Buendia charges in trying to win the ball but just clatters Praet. Apologises and Foxes midfielder is okay.

66 - Lewis finds Pukki, City tear clear, Tettey to Buendia who lines up a shot but dummies and Duda has to score but blasts straight at Schmeichel and denied. Buendia keeps alive and is taken out on the edge of the box to earn a free-kick.

79 - Great tracking from Buendia, huge cheer as he cleans out Chilwell and takes the ball out of play.

88 - Works hard to keep pace and tackle Barnes.

90 - Holds off his man and finds Marco Stiepermann, fellow substitute Lukas Rupp is clear on the left but pass from Stiepermann is poor, Rupp switches to Drmic, who cuts on to his left and aims for far corner, but Schmeichel tips away.

90+4 - Buendia intercepts but then overplays and is robbed by Albrighton, to huge groans, but Aarons wins the header and Iheanacho fouls Hanley.

90+4 - Buendia taken out by Chilwell out wide, relieving the pressure.

VERDICT: Seemed to be shaking off the rust in the first half but then looked back in his groove during a hard working and creative second half.
