Teemu Pukki admits it felt ‘unbelievably good’ to get back on the Premier League goal trail, after ending his eight-game Norwich City drought to help earn a 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

Pukki opened the scoring with a deflected shot at Carrow Road on Sunday but the Canaries were pegged back twice in an eventful encounter which saw Daniel Farke's team build on a 2-0 win at Everton the previous week.

The 29-year-old's sixth goal of the season had been during the 3-2 win over Manchester City back in mid-September, although he had scored five goals for Finland since then to help seal Euro 2020 qualification.

"It's not been the easiest games. As a striker you need chances and today I got them, so I'm happy with this," said City's top scorer. "I should have scored maybe more than one but it was a good thing for me to get the chances again.

"It felt unbelievably good, I can tell you that, it's been a while so it was a big thing for me. Happy to be on the score-sheet again."

The Finn has a total of 14 goals in 20 games for club and country this season to continue his superb form last season, when he helped himself to 36 in 56 matches for Norwich and Finland.

"It's been a good season, there were some games I didn't score but I still felt like I was playing alright," the former Celtic and Schalke striker continued.

"It was not like I was struggling or anything so I still had quite good confidence in these games. I think every striker gets these (dry spells) every now and then, so you just have to be strong enough to come back."

City remain 19th but just a point behind their next opponents, Southampton, and three adrift of Everton in 17th - teeing up a big opportunity to continue building momentum on the south coast on Wednesday night.

"We can be happy with these last two games," Pukki added. "It was a bit of a hard time before so we can finally start getting points and the confidence is important for the next games as well, which are big games coming up.

"It's important we've got Zimbo (Christoph Zimmermann) back, he's been important for us, and I think most of us have stepped up from the previous games.

"So it's many things which are going well at the moment and last week (winning at Everton) gave us confidence as well."
