Lee Croft and Matty Pattison are Norwich City's heroes after their goals fired the Canaries to a 2-0 win over fierce rivals Ipswich Town at Carrow Road this afternoon.

Croft's 25-yard blockbuster with an hour gone and Pattison's close range strike with less than ten minutes remaining handed Glenn Roeder's side a deserved three points.

But the Canaries were also indebted to David Marshall for an excellent save from Jon Walters to keep the scores at 0-0 early in the second half and again from Danny Haynes to prevent the Town man from equalising as City kept their first clean sheet for more than two months.

69: Town start to threaten and Volz's left foot volley is deflected over the City bar for a corner. From the kick, Marshall makes another superb save to deny the visitors, this time from Haynes near post header.

63: City go close to adding a second. Croft feeds Lita who fires inches wide from the edge of the box.

60: GOAL for City! Lee Croft hits an absolute beauty from the 25 yards out. Pattison lays the ball to him and the winger takes aim and his powerful right-foot drive flies into the top right corner past Richard Wright.

45: A stirring finish to the first half from City earns a late corner. The ball is cleared to the edge of the box but Clingan's shot is blocked as the referee blows for half time.

44: the home side produce the best move of the game. Wes Hoolahan dummies Clingan's pass. Lita then flicks it on to the onrushing Matty Pattison. The South African shoots under pressure from the edge of the box but it is straight into the hands of Richard Wright.

43: City win a corner after Lita chases Bell's thorough ball. Bell's kick is cleared but City battle back to earn themselves another flag kick. This time Richard Wright is obstructed and the referee gives Ipswich a free-kick.

41: Ipswich create their best chance of the half. A sweeping passing moves sees Walters pick up the ball on the edge of the City box. But he smashes the ball well over the bar when he should have done much better.

35: The Canaries almost open the scoring. Clingan's blast from 30 yards out deflects off Bruce and hits the bar with Richard Wright well beaten. Incredibly, the referee gives a goal kick.

31: City concede a free-kick on the left edge of their own box after Bertrand blocked Walter's cross with his hand. The ball eventually goes out for a goal kick as City struggle to clear.

30: Town win their first corner of the game after fine play down the right between Moritz Volz and David Norris. From the corner, Alex Bruce heads over David Marshall crossbar from six yards out.

29: After another spell of City pressure, Ryan Bertrand fires a 35-yard volley high, wide and not very handsome.
