Norwich City have made their ninth signing of the summer – VfL Bochum midfielder Marco Stiepermann.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year-deal for an undisclosed fee. Stiepermann came through the youth ranks of Borussia Dortmund, making his senior Bundesliga debut in December 2009 against VfL Wolfsburg.
He joined FC Energie Cottbus in 2012, before moving on to SpVgg Greuther Fürth two years later – the same Club Canaries defender Marcel Franke was with from 2015 to 2017.
After completing his move, Stiepermann told Norwich City TV: “I’m very happy to be joining a traditional club in England.
“I’ve seen the city here and it’s very nice. I didn’t need a long time to think about it because I’ve known about Norwich City for a long time.

“It’s good for me to play here. I know Marcel and Mario Vran?i? and we spoke about the club, which was good. It will help me and make a lot of things easier. They told me so much about the club and I also had conversations with the head coach and sporting director.
“I know how we want to play football and I think I am a good player for this. I’m a flexible midfield player with a good left foot and one of my strengths is giving assists to the forwards.

“It’s a dream of a German boy to play in the Premier League and maybe we can do that next year. I’m very happy to be joining a traditional club in England. I’ve seen the city here and it’s very nice.
“I didn’t need a long time to think about it because I was very interested in English football clubs. I’ve known about Norwich City for a long time and it’s good for me to play here.
“The training ground is perfect and everything is very English, which I like. I will give my best to help the team.”
On his latest addition to the squad, head coach Daniel Farke said: “Marco is an all-rounder and a creative guy.
“He started his career as a number ten but the last season played as a holding midfielder and in the left full-back position a lot. He will give us many options and is at a good age so that will help us to be more flexible.
“He played some matches for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga under Jürgen Klopp. In the Bundesliga II he has played nearly 170 games and got 20 goals. Marco’s height will help us with set-pieces. We’ve got lots of technical, passing players in central midfield. Marco is technically good as well but will give us a different option. When an opponent plays with long-balls or with set-pieces, he’ll be good for us.”
