Is it time for Norwich City’s attacking midfield trident to be given a fresh look for this Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Aston Villa at Carrow Road?

Todd Cantwell, Marco Stiepermann and Emi Buendia have started all seven of City's top-flight matches so far and after a bright attacking start, with nine goals in the opening five games, Daniel Farke's side have drawn a blank in their last two matches.

Chances for star striker Teemu Pukki, who already has six goals to his name, have dried up slightly and the Canaries haven't quite carried the same attacking edge during their 2-0 losses at Burnley and Crystal Palace.

So, would you stick with the same trio to provide the goods for Pukki, or is it time for someone else to get an opportunity from the start against Villa?

With injury problems in defensive areas it seems unlikely that Farke will veer away from his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and it's also unlikely that one of his attacking midfield options, Mario Vrancic, will be fit to start on Saturday as he makes his way back from a calf injury which has ruined his season so far.

Cuban winger Onel Hernandez, another influential player of the previous campaign, is also out of consideration until after Christmas due to a knee injury.

Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts is in contention but has had to make do with two brief appearances as a substitute in those two away defeats, with his only start coming in the disappointing 1-0 loss away to League Two side Crawley in the League Cup second round - in which he did hit the post.

While Kenny McLean could also be pushed forward, having played in attacking roles for much of his Aberdeen career prior to joining the Canaries.

That would leave Moritz Leitner to be paired with a defensive presence in central midfield, in either Ibrahim Amadou or Alex Tettey, who went off during the early stages of the loss at Burnley with a groin strain.

Or would you keep faith with Cantwell, Stiepermann or Buendia for another game?

Cantwell has two goals and two assists to his name after a bright start to the campaign, but lacked conviction with two of the better City chances during Saturday's loss at Selhurst Park.

Stiepermann was a key cog in the title-winning machine last season, with nine goals and seven assists in the Championship, but is yet to register on either front this season and has been guilty of some wayward shooting.

While Argentine ace Buendia has four assists already, following on from a superb eight goals and 13 assists in the second tier during 2018-19, to be voted into third place for the Canaries' Player of the Season award.
