Norwich City Under-18s have been handed a difficult opening tie in the FA Youth Cup third round draw, but will be at home, against the youth team of a fellow Premier League club.

Newcastle United U18s will provide the opposition, in a tie which is to be played by Saturday, December 14.

City lifted the trophy in 2013, when players including Josh and Jacob Murphy, Carlton Morris and Harry Toffolo emerged from the academy ranks - with Norwich the only team to break Chelsea's stranglehold on the competition in seven seasons, before Liverpool lifted the trophy last season.

Norwich reached the quarter-finals in 2016 and 2018, beating Newcastle 4-3 in extra-time at Carrow Road in the fifth round in 2017-18, with Max Aarons and Adam Idah part of that squad.

Last season however a 3-2 win at Port Vale was followed by a 3-0 loss at Preston in the fourth round. Newcastle are second-bottom in U18 Premier League North, while City are bottom of U18 PL South.
