Norwich City are at 9-2 to be promoted for the second season in a row and rub shoulders with some of the richest clubs in Europe.

The odds on the Canaries repeating their League One success and winning the Championship range between 14-1 and 20-1.

Favourites to go up are Burnley, at 5-2, with Reading and QPR locked at 7-2.

“The Championship is wide open this year as the market suggests so we have tentatively installed the Canaries as a

14-1 chance in our outright market,” said Skybet spokesman Tim Reynolds. “They've certainly got the right manager in charge to steer them the right way so we think that with some potential shrewd summer transfer activity it will give them a decent shout of making it back-to-back promotions.”

Beaten play-off finalists Cardiff, League One runners-up Leeds, and losing play-off semi-finalists Leicester and Nottingham Forest are in a bunch with Middlesbrough at 4-1.

Then comes another big bunch - which includes Norwich, Bristol City and Sheffield United as well as the Canaries' great rivals, Ipswich.

Scunthorpe are the real long shots, at 33-1, with Crystal Palace, Barnsley, Doncaster and Malky Mackay's Watford all tipped to struggle.

QPR are favourites to win the title outright, although Coral fancy Burnley and Middlesbrough at 9-1.

The shortest odds of City finishing top of the Championship are 14-1, offered by Ladbrokes and Skybet, while Bwin have them as long as 20-1.

Ipswich are 12-1 shots with William Hill - and 16-1 with Ladbrokes and BetFred.

t A promising 16-year-old striker who learned his trade at Norwich City has signed for Premier League giants Arsenal.

Philip Roberts, a Republic of Ireland Under-17 international, has moved to London on scholarship terms after his deal at Carrow Road expired, having impressed during a trial spell towards the end of last season.

Roberts has built up a solid reputation at City, versatile in a variety of formations.

The teenager was a regular scorer in the under-15s, but impressed last year at under-16 level when Arsenal felt the full force of his impressive pace as he scored an injury-time winner against them at Colney. He represented the Republic of Ireland last year against the Czech Republic in a friendly, scoring to give his team a 2-1 win.

That attracted the attentions of Republic legend Liam Brady, who is head of youth development at Arsenal, and Roberts joined the Gunners on trial for the closing stages of the season.

He scored two goals on his debut and was then part of the team which went to Italy to play in the Ferolli Cup competition, scoring twice against Juventus in the opening group game.
