Is Tim Krul’s new contract a sign that Norwich City are happy with their goalkeepers heading into the Premier League, or is another addition still needed?

The 31-year-old was an ever-present during the Canaries' title-winning season and his experience proved a huge asset, earning him a new contract until 2022.

That followed a new deal for Northern Ireland international Michael McGovern in April, which extended the experienced 34-year-old's contract until 2021.

The former Hamilton stopper provided cover for Krul in all but three Championship games and played all five of City's cup games, helping to beat Premier League side Cardiff and push Bournemouth close in the League Cup.

McGovern, who turns 35 this summer, also provided cover for Angus Gunn throughout 2017-18 and last played in the league in April 2017.

Academy keeper Aston Oxborough, 21, provided cover for three league games when the homegrown quota of seven players was under threat - but is yet to gain any senior experience on loan.

Oxborough is under contract until 2020, with the option for a further year in his deal, and beyond him are under-23 keepers Jon McCracken and Billy Johnson.

So while Krul is widely expected to be backed as number one by head coach Daniel Farke and sporting director Stuart Webber, it remains to be seen whether another goalkeeper will arrive before the August 8 transfer deadline.
