The majority of Norwich City fans still have faith that survival in the Premier League will be secured this season, despite a difficult start to the campaign.

As the Canaries get to work on the training ground during the international break, after six defeats from their opening eight games amid a horrid injury crisis, we took the temperature of the City faithful.

Our online survey was taken by over 1,000 supporters and saw 62 percent of voters backing Daniel Farke to steer his team to a finish between 15th and 17th.

The worries have set in for some though, with 29pc predicting relegation, following a concerning 5-1 home defeat to Aston Villa ahead of the break - with 8pc still confident of finishing between 11th and 14th.

We also asked if expectations had changed since pre-season and 36pc admitted they had changed their view but the remaining 64pc said they were unmoved.

The mitigating factor in taking six points from a possible 24 has of course been the injuries, with Farke without nine players against Villa, with three others playing through the pain barrier.

We asked which of the injured players has been most missed by the Canaries and it was centre-back Christoph Zimmermann, who was so influential during last season's Championship title triumph, leading the way comfortably with 65pc of the votes.

The German defender is hoping he can return from foot ligament damage before Christmas, after being hurt by a late tackle during his only league appearance, during the 2-0 loss at West Ham in August.

Next up was speedy winger Onel Hernandez with 10pc, who is hoping to return from a knee injury in the next few weeks, and goalkeeper Tim Krul with 9pc, who could be in contention for the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday having missed two games with a back problem.

With Zimmermann's centre-back colleagues Timm Klose and Grant Hanley also out injured, it's no surprise that at this stage a central defender is the priority for the January transfer window, with 74pc of votes, ahead of defensive midfield with 16pc.

While it's top scorer Teemu Pukki named as the best performer so far, after six goals in eight games, with 44pc of that vote, ahead of keeper Krul (17pc) and midfielder Todd Cantwell (16pc).
