Norwich City Ladies and Girls latest

Norwich City Ladies are through to the next round of the County Cup after beating Wymondham Ladies 5-0 at the weekend.

Goals came from Bex Burton, Sophie Gillett, Chelsea Garrett with a brace and Jodie Drake.

This Sunday they host Braintree in the SE Combination with a 2pm kick-off at Plantation Park, and the reserves are also at home against Taverham.

Norwich City Girls began their league campaign against previously unbeaten Waveney Vixens and quickly got into their stride with a quick break from Anya forcing Waveney to defend.

Jorja then had a one-on-one with the Waveney keeper who made a good save, then was forced into another good save from Robyn.

Nicole broke from defence and ran the length of the pitch but put her shot wide. Norwich continued to press forward but could not find the net with efforts going wide and being saved.

Waveney then managed an attack of their own ending in a corner which Norwich defended well. Norwich were soon back on the attack and the Waveney keeper was kept busy saving shots from Robyn, Jorja and Joanna. Joanna then made a neat pass to Jorja who scored to make it 1-0.

Norwich finished the half as they started and thoroughly deserved their lead at half-time.

City continued the second half attacking and an excellent long shot from Robyn made the score 2-0.

Anya then quickly made it 3-0. Norwich continued to pressure Waveney and kept their keeper busy saving shots from Joanna and Anya. Robyn completed the scoring again shooting from outside the box to make the final score 4-0.

An excellent all-round team performance.

After beating Colt Jags the previous week 10-0 (Emily 3, Shana 3, Bryony, Cerys, Chloe, and Kate) in the cup, Norwich’s good run came to an end when they were beaten 2-0 by a good Waveney side.
