Norwich City winger Simon Power continued his emergence in Holland with an influential display from the bench to help Dordrecht win away from home.

The visitors were trailing 1-0 at the break at Cambuur but had scored an equaliser in the 72nd minute before bringing the Irish youngster on in his favoured left wing position five minutes later.

He was subsequently brought down to win a controversial late penalty, which was eventually scored by Daniel Breedijk in the third minute of injury-time, with the players taken off twice due to missiles being thrown on the pitch in protest at the penalty, in front of over 7,300 spectators.

The 20-year-old – who is hoping to earn his first Republic of Ireland U21 call-up next month – was then also involved in the build-up for the third as Dordrecht sealed a 3-1 win on Friday night, moving up to 17th in the second tier, seven points clear of the bottom two.

In the Championship on Saturday, Ben Marshall played 90 minutes as Millwall were beaten 3-1 at home by in-form Preston. The winger won’t be able to feature against the Canaries at The Den this Saturday though.

Nelson Oliveira played the full 90 minutes as Reading were held to a 1-1 draw at home by relegation rivals Rotherham, with the injured Sean Raggett not involved for the visitors.

The striker’s fine cross was headed straight at Millers keeper Marek Rodak in the second half and the Portugal international came agonisingly close to a late winner after Mo Barrow had robbed Rodak, only for the keeper to win the race to the loose ball on his line.

In League One, Matt Jarvis played 89 minutes as Walsall brought an end to a five-game losing streak, winning 3-2 at home against Bradford to move four points clear of trouble.

That was despite Andy Cook being sent off in the sixth minute, with Jarvis’ header coming back off the crossbar in the 47th minute but nodded in by Joe Edwards as the Saddlers claimed the lead.

Left-back James Husband played the full game as Fleetwood won 1-0 at Burton to stay in play-off contention, four points adrift of the top six.

Tristan Abrahams came on in the 10th minute of Yeovil’s 1-0 home win over Cambridge United, a vital three points in the League Two relegation battle, keeping the Glovers three points clear of the bottom two.

Wembley is on the horizon for National League promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde, with City defender Timi Odusina an unused substitute during a 0-0 home draw with Barnet in the FA Trophy, with the hosts winning 4-1 on penalties to book their place in the semi-finals. Norwich striker Mason Bloomfield is also on loan at Fylde but is recovering from a broken arm.

In the Scottish Premiership, Steven Naismith was booked as Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw at home by St Mirren, leaving them six points adrift of third-placed Aberdeen.

Centre-back Marcel Franke played all of a 2-0 home win over his former club Dynamo Dresden for Darmstadt in the German second tier, leaving his side 13th and seven points clear of the bottom three.
