Bonding is on the agenda for one of Norwich City’s new signings, as the Canaries get stuck into their pre-season tour in Germany.

Two first-team friendlies and 24 players will give head coach Daniel Farke his latest insight to where City are in their Championship preparations.

But left-back James Husband – who made his pre-season debut in the draw at Stevenage within hours of his move from Middlesbrough being confirmed – has his own agenda while getting to know his new team-mates that little bit more.

“Being under each other’s toes for a week, I’ll find out who my friends are – or I won’t find any at all,” joked the 23-year-old.

“It will be good. The manager has got us out there and we’ll work hard on our fitness, we’re going to work hard on the tactics we’re going to play. We’ve got a few games out there to trial that – and hopefully we won’t be far off ready for the season after that.

“The boys have been good to me. I know Yanic (Wildschut) from my time at Boro, so he’s been good to me and introduced me to everyone. The boys have been top class with me, and I can’t have asked for any better start.”

Hard work has been a recurring theme this pre-season for Norwich City – a message reiterated by Farke before City’s departure to Germany.

“Again it’s going to be a pretty hard week for the guys, our pre-season work isn’t done so we have to work a little bit more and learn a little bit more about tactics for when the opponent has the ball,” said Farke.

“We will speak more about the transition game and for sure, they will be good opponents from Bundesliga II – and they will start a little bit earlier than us, so for them it is the last test and the most important test.

“So we will have some pretty good opponents and we are looking forward to this week.”

City face MSV Duisburg on Tuesday and Arminia Bielefeld on Friday, and the regime has already made an impression on Husband.

“He’s very physically demanding, that’s first and foremost – I’ve only been here a week but I know the boys have been worked very hard,” he added.

“It’s been tough, but we’re in the job of a lifetime so it’s nothing new to us. We’ve all done it before. We’re all capable of doing it. So we just have to get our head down and work as hard as possible for the new season.

“His tactics are different to what I’d call a normal English coach. But it’s nice. It’s a fresh change for us and we’re all enjoying the challenge ahead.

“I like to get forward and his tactics are slightly different to how a normal full-back would like to play, but it’s new and an enjoyable thing. It’s always nice to have new ideas put in your head.”
