Norwich City’s young Lions are heading to Poland aiming to make up for lost time – and turn England into European champions.
Winger Jacob Murphy and freshly signed goalkeeper Angus Gunn are in Aidy Boothroyd’s Under-21s squad currently in Poland, with the aim of coming back kings of the continent.
The pair came through the academy ranks at Colney, with Murphy enjoying a breakthrough first-team season alongside twin Josh.
As for Gunn, he impressed while training alongside the Premier League stars at Manchester City – the club he joined from Norwich as a 15-year-old. The son of Canaries legend Bryan officially returns to Norwich on a season’s loan from the start of July.
But the two are reunited ahead of City duty, with England hoping their summer in Poland proves a successful one.
“It’s a massive moment and I’m delighted I’ve been selected to go and represent my country at the European Championships,” said Murphy.
“I’ve worked hard this season, already been to three camps during the off-season with England and I worked hard, so I’m glad I got selected.

“I saw Angus in the last camp, we made up for lost time with that and it’s good to meet up with a lot of exceptionally talented young English lads.
“The aims are obviously collectively, to win the tournament. It would be a massive achievement if we can and that’s what we’re preparing for.
“And then personally for me, it’s just to get as many minutes as I can while I’m away.”
Murphy has certainly made an impression with the young Lions, scoring a brace – including a spectacular strike – in a behind closed doors friendly with their Iceland counterparts at St George’s Park, before the group flew out to their Kielce training base.

England begin their Euros campaign on Friday against holders Sweden.
Gunn added: “Me and Jacob have immense pride going into the squad for the summer, and fingers crossed we can get a few good results in the group stage, and progress through the competition.
“I think with the squad we have, we’ve definitely got the potential to win the competition.
“The two of us have been away together for the last few weeks in training camps, so we’ve been having little discussions about next season and the summer, stuff like that. So hopefully we can both go out there and show our quality and help England win the competition.”
