Former Werder Bremen midfielder Tom Trybull has completed a free transfer switch to the Canaries following a successful trial.

Trybull has agreed a one year deal after impressing City head coach Daniel Farke. The 24-year-old spent last season in the Dutch Eredivisie at ADO Den Haag.

“The first impression was very good and it was very easy for me to come here,” he told the club’s official site. “It’s very busy at the moment but everything is good and I’m happy to be here. This is a big chance for me because Norwich is a big club. In England there is a good atmosphere at football matches every weekend. The stadium is always full and every player wants that.

“Together with the supporters, we can do a good job this season. They’ve played for a long time in the Premier League so I know what to expect. I like to have new experiences and it’s a big chance for me. It was important for me to do the right thing. Not necessarily accept the first offer. I have to have the right feeling. I know what can happen so I have prepared on my own and was ready to make a good impression. I want to train hard in the next days and weeks to be part of the first team.”

The defensive midfielder has represented Germany at various age group levels and played in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen as well as spells at FC St Pauli and Greuther Fürth, where the Canaries signed Marcel Franke earlier this summer.

Trybull will not be involved in Norwich’s opening day Championship trip to Fulham but is poised to feature in Friday’s development practice game at Colney.

“Tom is a young player but also very experienced,” said Farke. “He was very highly-rated at Werder Bremen and played 20 times in the Bundesliga in a really good team. He’s a technical guy who will be able to connect our defence and midfield. As a player he fits perfectly for our style and we’re happy to have him.

“Tom will need some time as he has come in quite late. He has had to some individual training sessions after leaving his team from last season. He did really well in his few days training with us and is in good condition. He will need some time but he’s a good option for us.”
