Two youth internationals have joined Norwich City’s academy as first-year scholars.

Iceland Under-16 international Isak Thorvaldsson, a midfielder, has joined from Icelandic third tier side Afturelding.

Republic of Ireland U17 international striker Adam Idah has also joined from College Corinthians, the Cork club where current Ireland international David Meyler learned his trade.

“Thorvaldsson is a box-to-box midfielder, with a good goal-scoring record,” head of academy recruitment Gregg Broughton told City’s website. “He has been selected on a regular basis for Iceland at U16 and U17 level, and will represent his country at the Nordic Cup in August.

“Idah is a centre-forward and was a regular playing up a year for Ireland U17s last season, scoring eight goals in 10 games. He was identified as one of the players of the tournament in the UEFA U17 Finals in May, when Ireland were knocked out by England in the quarter-finals.”
