A place at Euro 2020 is up for grabs for Norwich City players Kenny McLean and Michael McGovern as they prepare for play-off fixtures during the current international break.
Scotland could reach a major competition for the first time since 1998 should they overcome Serbia in a one-off play-off match in Belgrade on Thursday.
McLean netted the winning penalty as Steve Clarke’s side beat Israel last month in the semi-final and City’s midfielder will be hoping to play a pivotal role in their qualification for a major tournament.
McGovern is likely to be deputy to Bailey Peacock-Farrell as Northern Ireland strive to achieve a similar goal of qualifying for the Championships scheduled for next summer.
Ian Baraclough’s side face Slovakia later this week knowing a win would book their place in the Euros next year.
Tim Krul is expected to get game time for the Netherlands due to an injury to first-choice keeper Jasper Cillessen. He will become the first Dutch player since Pierre van Hooijdonk in 1998 to play for his country whilst being on the books of a second-division side.
Frank de Boer’s side face Spain in a friendly on Wednesday before two Nations League fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland.
Przemek Placheta could make his international debut for Poland’s senior team if he plays in their friendly against Ukraine on Wednesday. The rapid winger was drafted into the squad for this match but will then link up with the U21s.
Teemu Pukki and Finland are set to take on Bulgaria and Wales in the UEFA Nations League B Group 4. His side have already qualified from the group and face world champions France in a friendly later this week.
Adam Idah could start at Wembley Stadium for the Republic of Ireland as they prepare to face England in a friendly on Thursday. They then face Wales and Bulgaria looking for their first win in the group stages of the Nations League.
Elsewhere, Ollie Skipp has been named in the England U21s squad for their dead rubbers against Andorra and Albania as they conclude their Euro U21 qualification campaign.
Loan exports Danel Sinani and Sebastian Soto will also be hoping to feature for their respective countries.
Soto could make his debut for the USA in their friendlies against Wales and Panama as he looks to mark his first call-up with a goal. Chile were also keen on capping the 20-year-old, but he decided to pledge his allegiance with his birth country.
Luxembourg play Austria, Cyprus and Azerbaijan over the break.
