Norwich City supporters have backed Patrick Roberts to start his first Premier League game since joining the Canaries on loan from Manchester City in the last summer transfer window.

Roberts made his league debut in the dying embers of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Burnley but despite impressing during pre-season, Daniel Farke is yet to hand the English winger a starting berth.

A poll on the Pink Un website has backed the star to play from the off against Crystal Palace this weekend. The result was over 65 percent in favour of Roberts, with 35 percent of the nearly 500 votes stating they felt it wasn't the right time for his introduction to the side.

His arrival in NR1 was surrounded with excitement given the pedigree of an impressive stint at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers and the form at Fulham which ignited interest from English champions Manchester City.

Farke has opted for patience with Roberts, providing other operators with the chance to prove themselves in the Premier League before unleashing the talented recruited this summer.

The Canaries boss now finds himself in the midst of an injury crisis, with his thin squad becoming threadbare, especially in the defensive area of the pitch.

Creatively, Norwich have a talented quartet which poses plenty of attacking questions to opponents, with Todd Cantwell, Marco Stiepermann and Emi Buendia forming a productive supply line behind the talismanic Teemu Pukki. After a blunt offensive display at Turf Moor, it remains to be seen whether Farke will opt to unleash Roberts in an attempt to inject some fresh impetus into City's attacking play.

Cantwell and Buendia are beginning to flourish after being thrust into the Premier League spotlight but there remains some doubt from the stands regarding Stiepermann's early adaption to top-flight football.

The German's relationship with Pukki is essential to asserting the footballing philosophy devised by Farke onto opponents, with the physicality of Stiepermann's game allowing Pukki to focus on running beyond the opponents' defensive line.

The inclusion of Roberts would cause a reshuffle positionally but could also alter the way the Canaries' play.

Farke isn't a coach who adores changing his starting XI at regular intervals but will be tempted given the talent of Roberts.
