Norwich City’s first team may be away at Sheffield United on Saturday but there will be action at Carrow Road this weekend.
City’s under-23 squad are preparing for a tough Premier League Two encounter with Blackburn Rovers on Sunday (2pm) as they look to build on two positive results.
Matt Gill’s squad lost their first two games of the PL2 season, 2-1 to Brighton at Colney and 4-0 at Middlesbrough, but have bounced back with a 2-1 home win over Stoke and a 2-2 draw with Newcastle.
That point was picked up on Monday night, coming back from 2-0 down at St James’ Park, thanks to goals from Devonte Aransibia and a late penalty from captain Adam Phillips.
“We lacked a little bit of conviction in the first half,” said former City midfielder Gill. “That was spoken about at half-time and after the game. It shouldn’t really matter who you’re up against or where, you’ve got to have conviction in your play.

“For a really young team to come back from 2-0 down away from home is really positive. To show the character and try to play how we’ve been playing was a good feeling.
“They’re learning and growing all the time. As a squad, they’re really close-knit and getting a real understanding of each other.”

The young Canaries host a Blackburn side who sit third in PL2 Division Two thanks to three wins from four games.
“It’s a great game for us to look forward to,” Gill added, speaking to City’s official website. “Blackburn have started the season well so it will be an extremely tough game. They’ve only been beaten by Middlesbrough, who are top.
“It will be a tough physical test but one the lads have got to confront head on. It’s another opportunity for us to keep this little run going.
“They know what’s expected of them. They know what we want day-in, day-out, not just in games and it’s about keeping that progression going.”
Entry to the Carrow Road clash is free for all supporters, with access through turnstiles 44-46 of the South Stand from 1pm. The stadium’s ticket office will not be open, see canaries.co.uk for more details.
