Defender Jon Otsemobor could be fit to return to action for Norwich City in Monday night's League One match at Leeds.

The full-back suffered a hamstring injury and was substituted during the first half of the Canaries' 1-1 draw at Gillingham three weeks ago and has missed four matches.

With Michael Spillane since sidelined - also by a hamstring problem - manager Paul Lambert included 18-year-old George Francomb at right-back in the last two matches, but Otsemobor could be challenging for a recall at Elland Road.

"We'll see how he is later on in the week; with a wee bit of luck he'll be OK," said Lambert at Colney yesterday.

The City boss had mixed news from the treatment room - with at least one fresh injury worry since the 1-0 win at Carlisle on Saturday, although he would not name the player involved.

"There's one in there at the minute that's giving us a little bit of cause for concern, so we'll see," he said. "Spillane's nowhere near fit. Michael Nelson's doing OK but he's not ready."

Owain Tudur Jones is training again after a calf injury and fellow midfielder Matthew Gill played for 45 minutes for City Reserves against Stevenage Borough on Wednesday night, his first appearance for eight weeks after suffering a knee injury in the 2-1 defeat at Brentford on the day Lambert was appointed.

"I'd barely seen him playing so I hope he's not had any reaction to it, he seems to be OK," said Lambert. "He's not ready for the first team. He's been out a long time so he needs games under his belt. I saw him at Brentford and I think Matty played against Colchester as well.

"But it's a different club at the minute so I won't judge him on anything like that. I've watched him day by day and he's trained fine and I'll be watching him again in the coming games."

Leeds are assessing the fitness of Andy Robinson and Tresor Kandol with the club's catalogue of injuries refusing to ease.

The pair are fresh doubts for Monday's game after limping out of Tuesday's reserve meeting with Hartlepool.

Robinson played 40 minutes of the 2-2 draw at Elland Road before pulling up with a hamstring strain. The winger was in contention to start the match with Robert Snodgrass recovering from a knee injury, but the former Swansea skipper is racing against the clock in a bid to be fit.

Kandol, meanwhile, is nursing a leg injury suffered in the second half of Tuesday's reserve match.

The striker, who scored both United goals, fell awkwardly after challenging for a high ball on the hour and was limping heavily when he left the stadium.

United manager Simon Grayson had hoped his injury list would ease during a 13-day international break and while Jason Crowe, Shane Higgs and Leigh Bromby are all expected to return to full fitness in time to face the Canaries, the damage to Robinson and Kandol could further deplete his high flying squad.

Robert Snodgrass, Luciano Becchio, Ben Parker and Rui Marques are all likely to be absent on Monday, but Kandol - a candidate to replace Becchio up front - insists he will be available for selection.

Kandol said: "I haven't really played yet but I'm ready to go, not a problem."
