A disappointing result for the Pedlars in their first away fixture, the Score not necessarily reflecting the true flow of the game.

Whitton kicked downhill first half and were awarded a corner in the first minute, which was easily dealt with. Swaffham broke and Richard Cornwall had a shot parried for a corner at the other end. In the 11th minute Paul Shafer headed over the Whitton bar.

The stalemate was broken in the 23rd minute when a poorly-defended free kick, on the right was punched by keeper Lee Brookes into his own net.

In the 35th minute a movement between Matthew Kenny and Paul Shafer resulted in the keeper tipping over the bar for a corner, which was cleared.

Two minutes later Swaffham won corners from both sides, dealt with by the Whitton defence. Just before half-time the keeper again beat away a shot from Matty Kenny.

The second half started promisingly with Paul Shafer having a shot saved then hitting the rebound over the bar and in the 58th minute Shafer set up a volleying opportunity for Ben Russell.

The 63rd minute saw Whitton break up the right wing and the resulting cross saw Jermaine Halewood score with a fine header.

Swaffham had further opportunities but to no avail. Scott Voutt and Keith Polski replaced Lewis Hemeter and David Spalding in the 70th minute and a further Swaffham attempt by Steven Thompson was punched clear by the Whitton keeper.

Whitton's third came in the 89th minute with a long ball cleared from defence setting up O'Neill to volley past Lee Brookes.
