Bungay Town Ladies went out of the Suffolk Cup in the most unfortunate way on Sunday.

They lost on penalties to Coplestone from Ipswich after surrendering a 2-0 lead at half time to draw 2-2 after extra time.

It all started so well for Bungay as Michelle Stanborough finished well from a quality through-ball from Amber Rowland, after more chances were squandered Imogen Williams controlled a corner and volleyed home from close range to give Bungay a 2-0 lead and a seemingly winning score.

But in the second half Bungay sat back and looked like they had already won the game but Coplestone, to their credit, had other ideas as first a pass through the defence allowed a forward to run in on goal to finish and then a ball across the penalty area was not cleared for a shot to drift into the top corner of the Bungay net.

Further chances were few as both teams struggled to find any flow in a poor game, in extra time the teams faded as quickly as the daylight and it was left to penalties and in a woefully display Bungay managed to miss all three of their theirs to gift Coplestone the game.
