I'm beginning to wonder if this season is real, or just amazingly surreal. Consider the following and decide for yourself. The momentous discovery I made this past week was that none other than a 'Worthy Out' sticker had made it to one of the 'Welcome to Norwich - a Fine City' signs that greets visitors as they gently wend their way in on one of the well-known arterial roads.

This sign used to raise a smile on my face every time I passed it for, during our glorious promotion season, a City crest appeared on it - no mean feat as the person who put it there would have risked a fair bit to do so.

And as the season unfolded I could have sworn that the little canary on it was puffing out his feathery chest more and more with pride, as indeed I was sat in my little yellow car bombing backwards and forwards.

Trouble was, someone at the city council decided the signs dotted around the city were all looking a bit tired and needed sprucing up so, horror of horrors, the crest was removed (though those who remember can still see its outline if they look hard enough) and my reason for smiling through my daily traffic jam was no more.

So just who has risked life and limb recently then to put up the 'Worthy Out' sticker I wonder? Could it be a season ticket holder who works for the council? If so, I'm sure there will be no money found this year to clean up the signs and there it will remain until an avid Worthy fan grows his/her nails sufficiently long or invests in some sticker stripper.

As for me…well, whether the current invader stays or is removed, I just want my feathery friend back and a return to those smiling days.

Talking of which, despite the eventual win against QPR and the pleasing never-say-die attitude of the players I wonder how many fans walked out of the ground last Saturday trying to recall the last time there was such a pernicious atmosphere during a match.

I believe it to be every supporter's right to vent their anger and frustration in whatever way they see fit, but there were some methods employed on Saturday that must have been questionable in the minds of many present as to whether they actually helped or hindered the team and certain individuals.

It's easy to suggest now that perhaps these stinging condemnations made certain significants buck their ideas up and play with a bit more pride and passion, and that might indeed be the case, but it could have been so different had the ball not landed on Darren Huckerby's head so perfectly and had Paul Gallacher not decided to go public with his 'much-practised-at-home' Gordon Banks impersonation.

On such small, yet very important, things are games turned.

For the opening 77 minutes much of the fare was very un-Delia like - bland and a little predictable. Add to the mix a scattering of bitter invective and a messy end result was definitely on the cards.

However, someone somewhere decided that a fair sprinkling of spice into proceedings would take the edge off the prevailing taste…and a victory was somehow concocted. Not quite as dazzling for me as that amazing

4-4 against Middlesbrough last season, but quite close to it, I would say.

And just to prove that I could be wrong - very wrong - about much of this season, a work colleague and avid QPR fan who was sat with the other hoops on Saturday said she thought the referee had a terrible game, whereas I said I though he had his moments but overall was pretty good as he was a lot less fussy than many we've had here of late.

And so I must conclude that it probably wasn't a canary I was smiling at every day two years or so ago, but a blue-and-white striped throstle of Midlands variety put up there by a former colleague and mad West Brom fan, and the sign, on another day, possibly says 'Welcome to Birmingham - a Fine City'.

This season hasn't just happened has it?

Oh, ok it has. Roll on the next one then please.
