Wymondham Rangers gained revenge on Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup finalists Marlborough as they came from 3-1 down to win 5-3 after extra-time in the League Cup quarter-finals.

The South Norfolk side now face another tough trip to the other Senior Cup finalists Dog House, who beat Prince of Denmark 5-0. Acle Rangers won 5-1 at Costessey Sports and will now be at home to Reepham Town who thumped Eaton FC 8-1. The semi-finals are scheduled to be played on April 10.

In the Premier Division, leaders The Grove are making sure that they have the points on the board, whilst their challengers with games in hand play catch up. Two goals by Paul Atkins plus others from Aaron Nixon and Gary Bee gave them a 4-0 win at AFC Wanderers. Matt Elwin scored five times as Poringland Wanderers hammered 11 past a luckless Norman Wanderers. Scott Casey, Jack Tarrant, Ryan Petit, Jonny Causton, Shaun Cann and Dale Simpson also found the net.

Hellesdon closed the gap on Reepham Town, at the top of Division 1A after returning from North Walsham with a 7-3 victory, whilst Hainford YCOB stay third after a 2-0 (Mark Critten 2) win at Aslacton. Windmill Wanderers were disappointed after a 5-0 home defeat against Horsford SC whilst the game between Rackheath Green Man and Fiveways was goalless.

After losing at Unicorns last week Division 1B leaders Aylsham Sunday were held to a 2-2 draw in the return game. They do however stay five points clear at the top from Earlham United who moved up to second spot after a 3-0 (Damon Brown 2, Marcus Gee) home win over Haig FC. In the division’s other game, Norfolk CCSC had a 6-0 (Ben Morgan 2, Thomas Norman 2, Craig Press and Kevin Hoy) win over Sprowston Wanderers. Hoy’s goal, a penalty, made him the oldest player ever to score for the club.

Division 2A leaders The Castlegate were held to a 1-1 draw by fourth-placed Upton and are now just a point clear of Dussingdale Rovers who came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at River Garden, Matthew Watson and Declan Crisp scoring for the home side. Nick Weavers scored twice and Lloyd Douglas hit a screamer as DCS Rapid beat Stoke 4-3. Adam Kobyleck also scored for DCS whilst Justin Cameron 2 and an own goal were the Stoke scorers.

Well done to Rose Tavern. A single Oliver Bennison goal in their victory over Spixworth was enough to ensure that they will at least finish runners up in Division 2B. The only team that can catch them, Bayer FC, had a 3-0 win at Sporting Farmhouse, but there was a surprise 3-0 defeat for PL Rangers at Wymondham Rangers Reserves. Acle Rangers scored the only goal of the game at Ribs Rovers, whilst goals by Danny Webster, David Gilfillan, Simon Curtis and Jonny Aldis helped to get Poringland Reserves off the bottom as they won 4-1 at Taverham United.

Congratulations to Sprowston Royal Oak who clinched the Division 3A title after beating nearest-challengers Hockering 2-0. John Revell and Liam Doyle were on target as the side gained it second successive promotion. Wellington Pink ’Uns hopes of a runners-up spot took a knock as they drew 2-2 at Hellesdon Reserves and they now need Hockering and Sporting Longdale to drop points in their final games. Nick Aston and Adam Knights scored for The Reindeer as they beat Mad Moose 2-1 and Stefan Harris-Wright along with Daniel King scored for Dancing Farmers as they beat Temple Bar 2-0. Newsman Celtic finished their season with a 5-3 (Robbie Powell 4, Jack Sinclair) home win over Heartsease Casuals for whom Rob Blowers, Gareth Crick and Brett Macey scored.

Daniel Bruce (2) and Jamie Daynes scored for Heartsease as the Division 3B winners beat the runners-up Moles Rest 3-2. Hingham Sunday won 2-0 at Freethorpe.

Well done to the top two in Division 4A, with both sides gaining promotion at the first attempt. It just remains to be seen if Riverside Rovers can get the point they need to make sure of the title. As they were thumping Silver Fox Reserves 9-1 to stay top on goal difference New Buckenham who won by the odd goal of seven at Constable Crusaders have now completed their fixtures. DEF FC had a 3-2 (Rob Olah 2, Sebastian Peyer) home win over Earlham Colney.

Division 4B leaders Briston Wanderers won 3-0 at Eaton Beehive and are six points clear of One Love United who were inactive. Salhouse Rovers had a 2-0 (Neil Woolner, Kel Haywood) win at Wendene Wanderers, whilst Bell Inn won 4-1 at home to Drayton. Hethersett Res beat Chapelfield Rovers 3-1 whilst Jonathon Wilson and Ryan Paul were amongst the scorers as Windmill Elite won 3-2 at Spixworth Reserves to leapfrog over their opponents and off the bottom of the table.
