Wroxham progressed to the second round of the FA Vase with a comfortable 3-0 win at UCL outfit Northampton Spencer.

Team boss David Batch rang the changes with Gareth Simpson and Matt Daniels both in the starting line-up.

In the fourth minute, from a corner by Spriggs, Owen Paynter headed home at the far post.

Wroxham started to dominate but both sides were having difficulty keeping the ball on the pitch in the conditions.

Wroxham went two up in the 20th minute when a good three-man move saw Gavin Lemmon and Paul Cook set up Matt Daniels to score.

At the start of the second period, with the wind behind them, Spencer had a good 10-minute spell but never looked like scoring. Wroxham took complete control when Spriggs put over a fine cross from the left to find Paynter again waiting at the far post to put the ball into the net in the 65th minute.

The onslought continued and Batch brought on Shaun Howes for Carus, Andy Eastaugh for Lemmon and Andy King for Paynter.

Although Northampton tried to push forward they were stopped by Wroxham's solid defence and Howie was never in trouble.

Cook, Spriggs and King all had chances but conditions controlled the game. A good display by Wroxham, and also by the ref who allowed the game to flow.

Kirkley & Pakefield also kept the Ridgeons League flag flying in the competition with a 3-1 win at Newmarket. CRC beat visitors March 7-1 while Ely had a 3-2 home win over Eynesbury Rovers.
