Darel Russell is relishing the challenge of taking on Championship pacesetters West Brom - and erasing the memories of City's derby day blues.

The Baggies come to Carrow Road tomorrow armed with a two-point lead at the top of the table, while City have just four points between them and the final relegation place.

It's a vital game for both teams for different reason - and City's combative midfielder believes that suits the Canaries down to the ground.

“It has obviously been disappointing, the boys are still disappointed about the game on Sunday,” said Russell.

“We had a long talk after the game in the changing rooms and we discussed how we thought things were going and everyone said that training had been fantastic.

“For some reason we didn't relay that in the game on Sunday, that was disappointing from that front, as in the previous weeks even when we lost a couple of the games, I think we have played well - and it has been disappointing that we didn't relay that in the biggest game of the season.

“The biggest (game) obviously for the fans, for ourselves, probably for the season as well at that point in time, so hopefully we can turn it around and get back to form on Saturday.

“These are big games and there is a hell of a lot riding of it for us. We really want to put the situation to bed in terms of making ourselves completely safe and I think that can be done this weekend if we get a result.

“It is going to be an extremely tough game. I consider West Brom one of the best teams in the league, if not the best, in terms of football experience and having Premiership quality, so it is going to be a tough game.

“But I think that when we play at our best, we prove that we are a match for any team.”

With both teams able to pass the team but so much riding on the result, no one is quite sure what type of game to expect.

“It is either going to be a very open game or a very cagey game,” he said. “We'll find that out in the first five minutes.

“You don't know how it is going to pan out, but they like to play good football and a lot of attacking football and we enjoy attacking ourselves.

“At this point in time the situation is in our hands, so if we get the results we need to get there are no problems.”
