Danel Sinani has revealed he turned down offers from top-flight clubs in Belgium, Italy and Spain to join Norwich City.

The 23-year-old will join the Canaries in July upon the end of his current contract with Luxembourg top-flight side F91 Dudelange.

Sinani’s pre-contract agreement with the Canaries was confirmed in April after speculation surrounding a possible move to Carrow Road emerged during the January transfer window.

The Canaries weren’t the only side attempting to sign the winger however, with City fighting off interest from other top-flight clubs in different countries to secure his signature.

“Before signing for Norwich, I had offers from Italy, Spain and Belgium. In La Liga, I was in talks with Mallorca, Leganes and Levante.

“And in Belgium, I talked to Standard de Liege. Why didn’t it happen? I don’t know. They were interested, we talked, they even invited me to come and visit the training centre, “he said. “Then... nothing more. I heard nothing and nothing was done,” Sinani told Walfoot.

“In the end, it’s quite positive because I think that the Championship is more competitive than the Belgian League”.

The Luxembourg international impressed City’s sporting director Stuart Webber, with the club looking to recruit talent in different areas to convention.

Sinani has netted 24 goals in 30 appearances in all competition, as well as providing his teammates with eight assists.

Since joining Dudelange, Sinani has scored 46 goals in 99 games - with his performances in the Europa League impressing the Canaries.

The winger is excited about the prospect of linking up with City boss Daniel Farke and the first-team squad next season, even if that’s in the Championship.

Sinani has also explained how a team-mate helped persuade City’s head coach to provide him with an opportunity in England.

“My teammate Marc-André Kruski, spoke well of me to Norwich coach Daniel Farke and convinced him to take me. He also played a significant role in this great opportunity for me.”
