Norwich City’s trip to Wigan Athletic next month looks to have been moved to a Sunday midday kick-off for coverage by Sky Sports – although an announcement of that date has since disappeared.

In the latest of several changes to Canaries fixtures announced recently, as Sky jump on the promotion bandwagon of Daniel Farke’s impressive team, a new date for the game at Wigan was announced on the Sky Sports website this lunchtime.

The article stated that the match at the DW Stadium will be played at 12pm on Sunday, April 14, although has since been removed.

If that date is confirmed it would follow City’s home game against Reading on Wednesday, April 10 (7.45pm) and precede a Carrow Road clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Good Friday, a 3pm kick-off on April 19 – ahead of the final three matches of the Championship season.

Chief operating officer Ben Kensell revealed last week that City hope to secure 5,000 tickets for the game at Wigan and said: “I think with Wigan we are looking to do something a little bit different and we’ll give some more information about that: can we help try to get as many fans there as we can by potentially subsidising some tickets?

“I don’t know, we’re working on that, we’re always working on initiatives where we can give something back to the loyal support we’ve had this season.”

The Canaries and Wigan have not yet confirmed the fixture change, leaving fans waiting for confirmation as the finer details are worked on behind the scenes.

The story had said that on the same weekend Sky had also shifted the kick-off time of City’s title rivals Leeds, who still play Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, April 13 but at 5.30pm – as the broadcaster looks to ensure it has potentially important promotion matches covered.

Six of Norwich’s games have been shown by Sky so far this season, three since the turn of the year, and this weekend’s home clash with Swansea was moved to Friday (7.45pm) for live broadcast.

In fact, four of City’s next five league matches have already been chosen for TV, including next Wednesday’s home game against Hull City, a trip to Middlesbrough and Carrow Road matches against QPR and Reading.
