Kris Renton scored his first goal for Norwich City's reserve team as Ricky Martin's young team ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at Southend. City were 2-0 up by half-time, Andrew Cave-Brown opening the scoring with an effort off the far post after good work by Damon Lathrope.

Renton made it two just before the interval, turning in Seb Muddell's cross.

Southend fought back early in the second half, but struggled to find a way past central Matthew Halliday and Alvin Quaye - and when they did, keeper Steven Arnold produced some smart saves.
