Renton made it two just before the interval, turning in Seb Muddell's cross.
Southend fought back early in the second half, but struggled to find a way past central Matthew Halliday and Alvin Quaye - and when they did, keeper Steven Arnold produced some smart saves.
The Pontins Holiday Combination East division fixture was settled five minutes from time when Robert Eagle slotted home from the edge of the area.
